Growing together
with the natural world.
Philosophy
We believe that when children regularly explore nature and participate in agriculture together, they develop a loving awareness of natural processes. Our child-centered projects naturally enhance cognitive development, and build a cooperative community. Our time spent outdoors organically promotes physical activity. Our goal is to inspire an appreciation for local ecosystems, and an understanding of the human roles within those systems.

Story

Hi, I'm Adam! I've lived in La Conner, WA for 7 years. My wife and I have experienced the joy of raising our son in one of the most beautiful regions in the world. I'm an educator by trade, and I have a deep love for experiential learning. I've watched closely, as my son has grown and developed through all kinds of outside activities: toddling on trails (and off), picking berries (and pricking fingers), climbing first trees (and falling), splashing through creeks (and slipping), examining insects, identifying plants, digging soil, planting seeds, harvesting crops, pruning trees, and more. I've experienced the thrill of his boundless energy and curiosity. Through this experience, I found the inspiration to organize the Skagit Farm and Forest School, an outdoor preschool based on farming, gardening, and natural exploration. I've felt enormous support and encouragement from our community, and I'm excited for the partnerships we're building. Together, we're going to support the ways kids learn best: doing real things, connecting with the natural world, and supporting one another in a caring community. I hope you'll join us!
